嘉義阿里山隙頂山居民宿 Xiding Mountain Retreat, Alishan, Chiayi

基地位於嘉義隙頂通往阿里山的山林間，海拔約一千公尺，終年雲霧繚繞，霧氣隨著季節與時間流轉，成為建築最重要的設計材料。本案規劃兩戶山居民宿，不追求成為風景中的主角，而是讓建築安靜地棲息於山林之中，回應地形、氣候與自然節奏，與環境建立謙遜而深刻的對話。

設計受到彼得．卒姆托（Peter Zumthor）對「場所精神（Genius Loci）」詮釋的啟發，透過純粹自然的材料、細膩的光影變化，以及克制而沉靜的空間語彙，構築人與自然之間的感知媒介。

當晨霧漫入庭院、午後微光輕灑牆面、夜晚星空映照山谷，建築不再只是旅人停留的場所，而是一段與雲海共居、與山林對話的靜謐體驗。在這裡，時間、光線與自然共同塑造每一次停留的獨特記憶。

Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,000 metres in the mountain forests of Xiding, Chiayi, along the road to Alishan, the site is immersed in a landscape where mist drifts continuously with the changing seasons and the passage of time. Here, cloud and fog become the project's most fundamental design material.

The development comprises two mountain retreat villas, conceived not as landmarks within the landscape but as quiet interventions that rest gently amongst the forest. Responding to the site's topography, climate and natural rhythms, the architecture establishes a humble yet meaningful dialogue with its surroundings.

The design draws inspiration from Peter Zumthor's interpretation of the genius loci—the spirit of place. Through the restrained use of natural materials, carefully orchestrated daylight, and a refined architectural language, the project creates a sensory connection between people and nature.

As morning mist settles into the courtyard, soft afternoon light washes across textured walls, and the night sky unfolds above the valley, the architecture becomes more than a place of accommodation. It offers a contemplative experience of living alongside the sea of clouds and engaging in quiet dialogue with the mountain landscape. Here, time, light, and nature come together to shape the memory of every stay.
